(Pastor) Glenn sent me the following email yesterday afternoon. Make sure to check out the photos at the end of this post.
We’ll we’re back, but there is a part of us that wishes we were still in New Orleans. Personally — and I think I can speak for most if not all of us who were on the missions trip — I miss the very tangible sense of biblical community we all experienced during this trip. We were, and are, the family of God, the body of Christ, working and laughing together, listening to, and praying for each other. Several students wanted the drivers to turn the vans around as we neared home so we could head back. I really think we got a taste of heaven this past week, and it was a powerful experience for us all.
You would have been proud of how hard the students worked, their overwhelmingly good attitudes, (and their quickness to repent of bad ones) and the hope God gave the people we encountered in New Orleans. Several times during this trip I was reminded of Paul’s words to his friends in Thessalonica. We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thess 1:2-3) Paul could very well been writing to those on this trip. Thanks to all of you who prayed, and kept up by reading the updates on this blog. We look forward to sharing more about the trip with you Sunday morning August 19th (at 9:30) in the Sr. High room, and through a video on Sunday morning Aug. 26th in the auditorium. In Christ,
Glenn Westburg
