There are a couple of free events coming up at Wheaton College that I think the readers of this blog (given the thoughtful and intelligent folks you are!) would be interested in. Unfortunately they’re both on the same day at the same time. Who is in charge of planning stuff at Wheaton?!

Thy Kingdom Come: Christian Moral Engagement with the World
From the website: You won’t want to miss this bi-partisan conversation on morality and politics, between Senator Dan Coats R-IN, and Congressman Victor Fazio, Jr., D-CA. The conversation will be moderated by Michael Gerson, op-ed columnist for The Washington Post.

Simplicity and Intentional Community: A Response to The Pursuit of More
Dr Lisa McMinn, a friend of ours who teaches at George Fox University, is giving this talk.
While both of these events look really good, Maggie and I will be attending Lisa’s talk…and not just because of our friendship. The topics of simplicity and community are incredibly important to me, and Lisa is one of the few voices in our culture that can cut through the clutter and articulate an alternative way of living that aligns with God’s Kingdom. Good stuff.
