thanksgiving hospitality

I just walked down to the lobby to see how the sign-ups for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner are coming along. It’s amazing how many slots- volunteer positions and food items- have already filled up. Nice! If you’re hoping to help out with the Dinner I’d recommend signing up in the lobby this Sunday.

There is one volunteer team for the Dinner that is especially key: Afternoon Hospitality Crew. This team (which is divided into two shifts: 2:30-4:30 and 4:30-6:30) has the very stressful job of… hanging out. Well, to be fair, there may be a little talking that happens too. Because many of our guests don’t have somewhere to go immediately after the dinner, we want to provide a warm and welcoming environment where they can spend their Thanksgiving afternoon. We have one room set up to play board games, a movie room, and another room to watch the football games (Green Bay at Detroit and the Jets at Dallas in case you’re wondering).

Tough job huh? In the past we’ve even had families sign up to be part of the Afternoon Hospitality Crew together. If you’re interested, stop by the sign-up table in the lobby this Sunday. Or, if you want to make sure you get a spot, email Pastor Brian this week (brian@pccmail.org).
