scavenger hunt

Over the past few weeks we’ve heard a lot about the upcoming Community Thanksgiving Dinner and the Season of Giving. But it’s likely that most of us haven’t heard about another PCC holiday tradition that’s coming up. I asked SR High pastor Glenn Westburg to fill us in. Make sure to check out the photos from last year’s event.

Each December the middle and high school ministries of Parkview hold their only combined event of the ministry year. This December 18th will be the 9th annual Christmas Scavenger Hunt in which students are given a list of food and non-food items and a time limit in which they head out in teams to see who can amass the most items on their respective lists. Each item is worth a point value, and the team with the most points gets the privilege of inscribing their name in Lord Stan Lee’s Cup (a gold painted garbage can) ensuring the winning team will go down in history (or until we decide to throw the can in the trash).

In reality everyone wins because the Scavenger Hunt has been a fun way to collect food for families in our community who could use some help during the holidays. Over the last several years we have collected over 2,000 pounds of food each year! Here’s to another great Scavenger Hunt!

  1. Spelling Nazi says: It’s scavenger, not scavengar. 🙂
