I mentioned in a recent sermon that Maggie volunteers one Sunday a month at the DuPage Convalescent Center. This has become something she really enjoys. She always comes home with some great stories about interactions with the residents. This morning she sent me an email from the chaplain at the Center about their need for additional volunteers. Given the caliber of the readers of this blog [ 🙂 ], I figured I ought to share it here.
Are you looking to make a positive impact on your community through volunteer service? DuPage Convalescent Center has opportunities available for individuals wishing to make a difference in the lives of others through Christ’s call to service. While many opportunities exist, our immediate volunteer need is:
Religious Service Escorts: Volunteers are needed on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. to assist transporting residents to Mass or at 10:00 a.m. to transport residents to the Protestant Service. We are especially in need of volunteers to assist us when there is a fifth Sunday of the month. Volunteer as an individual, a family, a bible class, or youth group. Pick one date per month or come join us weekly. Your service will always be appreciated.
Your efforts will go a long way toward helping us fulfill our mission of allowing our residents to do “as much as they can, as well as they can, for as long as they can.” For more information please contact Volunteer Services at (630)784-4246 or call me directly at (630)784-4262.
Thank you for your consideration,
Chaplain Dan Cunningham
