I just received the following email from Aubree, who is one of the members of PCC’s Philippines Team. Sounds like made it safe and sound.
Hey All!
Thanks for your prayers thus far! Our travel was easy, smooth, with little to no worry. The only scare was with my guitar this morning as we got off the plane in Manila…it was the last piece of luggage to come out off the conveyor belt! We thought it was gone.
We are at our home-away-from-homes, and the ladies here are keeping us awake! Right now, it’s 3:40 in the afternoon in the Philippines, while it is 1:40 in the morning back home! Hopefully, jet lag won’t be coming up to bite us. We’re planning on hitting the sack tonight at 7pm. I know, early, but it feels like we should be sleeping right now.
Already, I am learning that I will need to trust God completely and wholly. Even this morning with the whole guitar situation, my constant prayer was…
“Please keep me calm…and help me to trust you!”
God certainly did answer my prayer! I suppose the little white girl standing by the conveyor belt, looking like she was about ready to cry touched their hearts…the man helping at the conveyor belt was saying “One gui-tar? One?”
It seemed as though the entire airport was involved! They called the baggage department, sent two guys into the holding room, and they personally escorted my baby out of the belt! Not a scratch on it!
I kept reminding myself “Where your treasures are, there your heart will be also!”
God is so faithful, and proves to us His abounding love and concern for us even in the tiniest ways!
It is very hard to believe that we’re actually IN the Philippines. The culture here is astounding. I kept saying “Mom, it’s like a mix between Mexico, New Orleans, and the South Side in August!”
As I am finishing up this little update, the sun is shining through the window, and the breeze is blowing in. When we look up, all we see is smog…even still, God sends rays of sunshine to bless us abundantly – it makes me think of the times when my life seemed pretty smoggy. Even then, God’s light shone brilliantly in the darkness.
Thank you for the prayers! We are so blessed to have so many warriors on the front lines of battle! Praise God!
On behalf of the Philippines GO! Team,
-Aubree
