May I say this without alienating friends back in chicagoland? The weather in San Diego has been wonderful! Sunny and pleasant with that lovely smell of living things: flowers, trees, and grass.
Our time at the National Pastors Convention has been great. We’ve received tons of information… probably more than our brains can absorb. Last evening the PCC staff and our families enjoyed dinner together at a local seafood joint. After our leisurely dinner, we stood in the lobby talking for another 45 minutes. I guess we must like each other or something.
I’ve had the chance to interview Dan Kimball, Tony Jones, and Greg Boyd for Leadership Journal. Each of these guys has distinct ideas and theology… but Jesus is really important to each of them. I came away from our conversations really encouraged. I’m thankful for their time.
I’ve posted two reviews of the conference at Out of Ur: A Big Can of Worms and The Glory and the Grief. It’s always interesting to watch the comments of those posts.
This evening N.T. Wright is speaking. If it’s half as good as the Bible study on Acts he led this morning then we’re in for a rich time. Thanks to those at PCC who are holding down the fort while we’re here. No way could we be here- and certainly not benefiting from the conference- without you. Thanks!
