Hopefully it is clear that this blog is written from a Christian perspective. The idea of looking for signs of life is, I believe, a Christian way of viewing the world. Some of you will not share this perspective but others of you do- a fact that is clear from many of your insightful comments.

I recently sent an email inviting a few friends to share their response to this question: In what ways does your faith in Christ impact how you think about and engage with the upcoming presidential election? Over the next couple of weeks I will post the various answers I’ve received to this question. By posting their responses I hope to show the following:

• Their are plenty of very thoughtful Christians who are willing to do the work of applying their faith to the complexities of life.
• People with deep commitments the way of Jesus can have quite different ways of thinking about the implications of those commitments.
• I have some really smart and interesting friends!
