happy saturday: bad christian facebook ads

Every once in a while I notice a particularly goofy ad on the New Community Facebook page.  There must be an algorithm that attempts to place Christian-like ads on our church page.  (Click an image for a better view.)

These ads leave me in quite the bind: do I tattoo my Facebook profile with the Virgin Mary, the crucifix, or an Old Testament image?  Do you think Deuteronomy 23:13 would be considered among the “various images from the Old Testament”?

  1. I would certainly like to see that image on display.
I just try to ignore all that garbage.

  2. These things drive me crazy.

I sometimes wonder about becoming a ‘fan’ of God. Does the word have the symantic meaning that it can be applied to God? Can the language of our cult of celebrity be redeemed into a diminished but legitimate term of lordship?

That said. I became a ‘fan’ of Tim Keller and feel no remorse or equivocation.

  3. I think all those ads are terrible. And their rating system is bad too. I can’t say how many ads I’ve found offensive or simply irrelevant to me (Dating services? When I say I’m married? This is targeted advertising???) And despite feedback it still shows up.

Yeah, just weird stuff there man.

And I love the choice of scripture. 🙂
