In a couple of hours Maggie, Eliot and I are driving two hours west to spend a few nights at a friends vacation home. We’re looking forward to a few days- just the three of us- with no work to do or tasks to accomplish. Life’s been a bit busier than normal lately with Maggie’s new part time job, lots of church planting meetings, and the process of purchasing a condo in Hyde Park. A few days out of cell phone and internet range is sounding real good.
In addition to taking some walks and cooking tasty dinners, we’re each bringing a few books. Pat the Bunny is one of Eliot’s current favorites and Maggie has a couple of novels packed. I’m finally getting to Eugene Peterson’s Tell it Slant along with Native Son by Richard Wright and The Writing Life by Annie Dillard, a favorite author.
I’d hoped to post some thoughts about the way fear has impacted the current health care debate, but the week got away from me. Maybe when we get home. In the meantime, I recommend to you Skye’s post on the issue, “Pro-Life but Anti-Health Care?“
