I spent a few days last week at a friend’s cottage in the country while Maggie and Eliot visited family on the east coast.  Times of solitude have become very important for me; they provide margin for reflection that is hard to come by most of the time.  I took this photo while driving from the cottage to meet my old college roommate and his family for dinner.
