out of the lifeboat

I received the following email from my friend Thom on Monday morning,

I don’t know if you are familiar with an artist named Steve Taylor. He definitely ushered the new wave musical musical genre into the Christian musical world, in a respectable way. He has great, poignant, tongue and cheek lyrics. I was immediately reminded of this song from the 80s as soon as Chuck Howard mentioned the game Life Boat yesterday.

Here’s the video. It’s obviously a bit dated, but hang with it. The ending is actually quite powerful.

This is also a good reminder to send any of your “out of the life boat” stories to stories@pccmail.org As Chuck mentioned on Sunday, we’ll find a way to share these stories anonymously with the Parkview community as a way to encourage us in our discipleship to Jesus.

  1. Sure, I remember this song – it was a good LP album. Made lots of us get a bit more in tune to what the school systems were teaching…

(p.s. David – an LP is a vinyl record you play on a machine called a record player which contains a long spiral track. A needle on the record player picked up vibrations in the tracks (grooves) which were amplified and turned back into sounds…)

  2. oh… that’s what an LP is! I thought it had something to do with “laughing pandas” or “loud pianos” or “loose pants.”

    🙂
