local music world impact: concert for darfur

sudan_map.jpgIn less than a month Parkview Community Church will be the location for an intriguing concert. A bunch of students have organized a concert to benefit the Darfur region of Sudan. The event deserves your attention for a few reasons. First, its a chance to hear six local bands: Belladonna, Beou-er, Sleepy Sleepy Octopus, Stain Removal, Levi Weaver, and Yourself and the Air. Second, with a bit of help from Glenn Westburg, the whole thing is being organized by students. And finally, all proceeds will be donated to the work of Samaritan’s Purse in Darfur.

This won’t be the first time Parkview has been involved with Samaritan’s Purse in Sudan. In the fall of 2006 the church participated in a financial fast to support the work in this desperate region. It’s very hopeful to see these students continue to focus on an area of the world many of us are prone to forget.

Mark your calendars for Friday, March 7. 6:30-11:00. Tickets are $5.00.

  1. Hey David – was their ever a report from Samaritan’s Purse on what kind of projects the last donation went to? I know they were excited to receive and hoped to hear more specifics sometime – of course I may have missed it. The concert sounds great – even moreso due to the cause.

  2. As a friend of those putting on this show, and a fan of at least two of the bands playing, I can definitely say that the show should be a great success… I can easily see this selling out. So please, if you are interested, please show up early, and get tickets as soon as you can!

I cannot wait for the event, and am so proud of the initiative of the high school students, and their love for their world that they are putting this thing together. I simply cannot wait to see how it all turns out!

  3. Brian- I’ll need to look into that. I believe a report was given to someone on staff, but I’m not sure if it went beyond that. Good reminder.
