   We carry these images around with us–they come from so many sources that are so good at showing us the problems. Where are videos that show us the solutions? Do we not buy shoes? Or only shoes made in America? Would it be wise to ask if these children are glad they have jobs and aren’t sleeping with strangers or dieing of starvation? Do we get stuck in guilt and feelings of inadequacy and helplessness? Does justice look like us while life looks like working in a shoe factory to kids who face death? Though filmed in black and white with hints of color, this isn’t a black or white situation–it is complicated and demands complex answers. Where are the real answers that will bring the help that these kids would ask for, not answers driven by our guilt? We have a huge responsibility. We need honest dialog and meaningful search for answers. God’s answers combined with our hands, feet, wallets, and hearts full of more than goodwill and compassion, but also wisdom and insight, and great respect and honor for children who survive by working in factories, digging in dumps, or …..
