our 2009 favorites

A couple of weeks ago I asked about your favorite books/films/ and albums of 2009.  Here are your suggestions:

Books

Films

Albums

Of all your suggestions, I’ve only read Welcoming the Stranger, seen Up, and I’m not familiar with any of these albums.  Thanks for the suggestions!

For those who didn’t comment the first time, any 2009 favorites you’d add to this list?

These days have been quite full, but before the year is out I hope to pull from my ongoing 2009 list and point out a handful of favorites.

  1. I really loved Wes Anderson’s adaptation of “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, a Roald Dahl book. At the risk of sounding predictable, I really love Wes Anderson’s style. I really like the odd characters, the dysfunctional families, and unconventional relationships. I didn’t really see anything special in “Darjeeling Limited”, which I think was his last film and which I sort of hated. I think he is back in his element with “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, though. It’s on par with some of the best Pixar movies, in that it’s universal enough for people of all age group.

So, you should definitely check it out!

Also, thanks for a worthwhile diversion from finals, haha.

  2. I can’t tell you how thrilled i was to see mwY on your list. I feel my eccentric taste is oddly validated. 🙂 I have a post on that album/concert almost ready to go up.

  3. Go see the film “The Maid” It was beautiful and brilliant.
