I’m always on the look out for unexpected Christian conferences. Nothing against those conferences that fit the “usual suspects” bill, but they tend to recycle the same cast of characters and general themes. The upcoming 4 Days 4 Justice at North Park University here in Chicago appears to break from the expected.

I’d be curious to know how many of the featured speakers you are familiar with: Richard Twiss, Andrea Smith, Peter Goodwin Heltzel, Dr Mimi Haddad, Terry LaBlanc, Lisa Sharron Harper, and Soong-Chan Rah. I’ll admit that only three of the names are familiar to me.
4 Days 4 Justice looks to be an intriguing combination of theology and practice around issues of justice. The conference runs from April 14-17; I think my schedule will allow me to attend sessions of Thursday and Friday.
In addition to the speakers and content there is another way to know this isn’t a typical Christian conference. The price is ONLY $20.00. Seriously, most 4 day conferences will cost you hundreds of dollars. Registration information can be found on the conference website.

Speaking of unexpected Christian conferences, 2 summers ago we attended the PAPA Festival. I wrote about it here: part one, part two and part three.
