The Strategically Small Church

My friend Brandon O’Brien has written a book, The Strategically Small Church, that comes out later this summer. Brandon has asked a few folks who pastor smaller churches to contribute articles in the lead-up to the book’s release; my article about our Bronzeville church plant went up a few days ago.

I had the chance to read a few of the book’s chapters as Brandon was writing the book and am looking forward to the final product.  Those of you who share my fatigue with the “big=successful” narrative of American Christianity will especially want to check out this book.

    I would love to read this book, David. I grew up in small churches and have mostly attended them, too. I love the family feeling of a small church–the sense of commitment to each other. In a small setting you really get to know each others personalities and have opportunities to learn to love and live in unity that you can’t learn in a larger anonymous setting. Thank you for your insights–You encourage me!

    I’ve known small churches too, and admire the people who are willing to attend them, as well as the pastors who give themselves to them. They sacrifice fame and fortune, knowing that God will take care of them without the bigger house, allownce, and other creature comforts.
